Indian cinema’s surge to digitalisation

Cinema India Convention and Trade Show presented by Scrabble Entertainment announces the 12th Cinema India Expo on 23 – 24 July 2012

6 March 2012, Mumbai - Cinema India along with Scrabble Entertainment Ltd. (SEL) announces the 12th Cinema India convention and trade show. This event will be held this year on 23rd and 24th of July at the Renaissance Hotel, Convention Centre in Mumbai.

The event will be supported by the entire Indian cinema fraternity including the Multiplex Association of India, Cinema Owners & the Exhibitors Association.

Industry Support
Cinema India along with the Scrabble Entertainment Ltd. will yet again be featuring their Digital Initiative-transforming the cinemascape of India into DCI compliant technology. Ranjit Thakur, CEO, Scrabble Entertainment Ltd. said, “With the growing demand of digitalization in India and globally, we have come together with Cinema India to showcase this initiative. This platform will enable us to drive growth and represent a major investment in cinema technology in India and worldwide.”

Transforming Cinemas to 2K
Discussing the partnership further, Ranjit Thakur continued, “Cinema India and SEL partnering together create a seamless integration to showcase the initiative with the growing demand of digitalisation in India and globally. Digitalize India Mantra
Scrabble Entertainment was formed in November 2007. Scrabble being India’s first and only 2K DCI Compliant Cinema deployment entity aims to convert every multiplex in the country to the 2K Digital Cinema Platform. The company has already contracted with the leading Cinema Exhibitors, Producers & Distributors in India to facilitate this conversion.

Business Oppurtunity
India is expected to transform all screens to digital platforms across the 6000 single theatre and 1500 multiplex screens in the next 12 - 18 months. Hollywood in India will soon be exclusively digital.
