CONFERENCE SESSION IN THE HALL OF HARMONY
State of the industry: Multiplex growth and single cinema survival. Era of
transition in film distribution and cinema exhibition infrastructure in India.
Overview of the growth of cinema screens. Demand of potential growth and
expansion exponentially to nearly 100,00,000 screens
Notes: This conference session needs to evaluate the multiplex phenomenon. The Indian
cinema industry in exhibition and distribution needs to take a reality check
movie industry economy in coping with the transition to multiplexes from single
theatres. Does the Indian cinema economy have the depth financially to translate
the cinema exhibition and distribution to the multiplex level? How long will
this transition take? What are the funding avenues? Is the Indian cinema economy
to respond to the financial needs of multiplexes? How will the cinema exhibition
sector serve the needs of the lower sector and reach the millions of viewers who
presently cannot afford to enter a multiplex. How will the expansion by
thousands of screens be achieved? What are the technologies that will serve this
end?
The panelisits will be
selected from film industry associations, major distributors and major film
